Everyone I meet feels uncomfortable in front of the camera - some more than others. This is exactly why I want to share my client Coran's journey with me and her relationship with photography.

I'm incredibly proud of how far she's come this past year. She's now had several photoshoots with me and even volunteered to join other people's shoots as a model, which I absolutely love.

The Challenge

When I first met Coran, a vibrant self-proclaimed LinkedIn influencer and specialist insurance broker, she had what she calls "more than the average person's" aversion to being photographed. Despite having infectious energy that lights up every room she enters, Coran would actively hide from me at networking events that I was photographing and even contact organisers to ask that no photos be taken of her.

The Process

Our journey began with understanding. Before we even picked up a camera, Coran filled out a detailed questionnaire and we had an honest conversation about her relationship with photography. I wanted to know what held her back, what made her uncomfortable, and what success would look like for her.

Together, we created a plan that put her comfort first. Coran chose the location - somewhere she felt at ease. We discussed makeup and styling so she felt prepared. Most importantly, I made it clear that this was her safe space to be honest without judgment.

The Transformation

The day of our shoot, everything aligned. The weather was perfect, the location welcoming, and Coran stepped into the experience knowing I had her back. When I sent her my favourite photo that evening, she felt comfortable enough to share exactly why she didn't like it - a huge step for someone who describes herself as a people pleaser.

Here's the beautiful part: we kept working together.

Now Coran not only has several photos she actually likes of herself, but she's grown so much in confidence that she's volunteered to model for other clients' shoots. Her LinkedIn profile picture showcases her warmth, strength, and that infectious energy that makes her the amazing human she is.

The Result

Having open conversations and honest communication means that when Coran and I work together, I know exactly what she's looking for and where her mind is at. She feels comfortable telling me how she feels, sharing her concerns, and together we're able to create photographs that let her shine like the star she really is.

Coran's testimonial says it best:

"If you're at all uneasy or nervous about being in front of the camera PLEASE speak to Tash, she really will look after you and the photos will exceed your expectations."

From hiding at networking events to confidently stepping in front of cameras and even volunteering to help others - that's the power of creating the right environment for growth, and the magic that happens when someone discovers their own light.
